100-year anniversary of Finn Juhl’s birth will be celebrated in several parts of the world.

The Danish furniture designer Finn Juhl, who died in 1989, would have turned 100 in January 2012. The anniversary has inspired several events and exhibitions all over the world.

Daelim Museum is showcasing “The 100th Anniversary of Finn Juhl’s Birth” to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the legendary Danish designer’s birth. The exhibition filled with collections from world renowned chair collector Oda Noritsugu (1946- ) highlights works of Finn Juhl (1912-1989), a leading Danish designer who started Scandinavian modern furniture design, which has emerged as a much sought-after lifestyle trend in Korea. In a dedicated space at the museum, some of his famous designs will be displayed differently under different themes each month, suggesting a new exhibition style experimented for the first time in Korea.

The exhibition will be a sensory universe with a focus on silhouette, detail and craftsmanship that presents the organic universe of the 1940s in a contemporary context. Professor Mr. Koichi Ono, Mr. Noritsugu Oda and Mr. Noriyuki Nakao from the Japanese Tokai University will present studies of Finn Juhl’s house north of Copenhagen.

Ordrupgaard Museum marks the 100th anniversary of Finn Juhl’s birth with a festive program. Finn Juhl’s House will be open to the public, there will be guided tours in Danish and English – and a jazz band entertains. Anyone named “Finn” has free access. During spring Ordrupgaard will also present a series of lectures about Finn Juhl.
